Austria has a great popularity for coffee. Coffee is served across Austria in many different styles, especially notable ones being in Vienna.
Austria's equivalent to espresso is Austria's mokka, also known as kleiner Schwarzer, although its extracted more slowly compared to elsewhere. There are many variations of Austria's mokka, such as großer Schwarzer, which is a double mokka and the kleiner Brauner which is single/double mokka with milk. Other types of Austria's coffee include Verlängerter, Melange, Franziskaner, Kapuziner and Einspänner.
When in Austria one should definitely try and savor the café culture of Vienna.
Besides coffee they also offer excellent pastries and hot chocolate.
Because of the wide variety of Austria's coffee types, you are advised to not merely order “coffee”, but specify which kind you want.
Austria does not have a great demand for tea, as it is principally a coffee drinking nation. However iced tea is very popular across Austria with lemon being the most popular flavor. It is served in restaurants and cafés.
